Duo Verdejo are a viola & guitar duo known for their exciting, innovative recitals and their effortless musical connection. Raised in a musical family in Regina, Saskatchewan, Meghan and Adrian have played together from a young age. Duo Verdejo have performed many of the major works for viola and guitar and have premiered and commissioned several new works from contemporary composers. They regularly perform the for the Health Arts Society, bringing varied recitals to hospitals and senior care facilities in British Columbia.

Duo Verdejo - Adrian Verdejo

Adrian Verdejo is a guitarist living in Vancouver, Canada. He performs as a soloist and with the Victoria Guitar Trio and the Erato Ensemble. As an in-demand freelance guitarist, he has also performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Turning Point, Aventa Ensemble and many more.

Born into a musical family, Adrian was drawn to the guitar at an early age. In his hometown, Regina, he performed both as a classical guitarist and as an electric guitarist in heavy metal and punk rock bands. Verdejo completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Victoria and a Masters of Music from UOttawa studying with Dr. Alexander Dunn, Stephen Boswell, and Patrick Roux. He has performed in master classes of legendary guitarists including Pepe Romero,  Ben Verdery and  Fabio Zanon.

Adrian Verdejo performs many works spanning the guitar repertoire and has commissioned and premiered several new pieces. He specializes in contemporary music with equal fluency in classical and electric guitar styles.

His debut solo album, Modern Hearts – New Music for Electric Guitar, is available on the Redshift Music Label.

Meghan Verdejo has been dedicated to a professional career of music performance and teaching for the past 29 years. She began studying the violin at the age of three at the Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts in Saskatchewan. At the age of twelve, she was introduced to the viola and pursued a formal education in viola performance at the age of 16.

Meghan was accepted to the Conservatory of Music in Quebec City at the age of 16 where she studied with violist François Paradis. After completing her studies in Quebec City, she moved to Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Music Degree in Viola Performance.

Meghan has participated in numerous competitions and performed extensively with many musical organisations in British Columbia.  She has maintained an active chamber music career and regularly performs with viola and guitar ensemble Duo Verdejo as well as other musicians from the Vancouver Lower Mainland.  She currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia and performs on a viola made by Peter Mach and a bow made by Reid Hudson.
